A supply ledger the floors would sign.

A regional health system migrated finance and supply without pretending the ERP was a clinical record.

The situation

Data Migration
Halden Health

Halden's item master had been copied forward for a decade. Units of measure disagreed with the floors. Open purchase orders and inventory would not tie to the general ledger, and a prior migration attempt had been reversed. Leaders were clear: the clinical record was out of scope, and the operational numbers still had to become trustworthy.

We wrote the boundary in the first week. ERP for finance and supply. Clinical platforms untouched. Every proposed interface near a clinical system needed a failure drill or it was declined.

History was cut to what the close and the auditors would ask for. The rest went to an archive with a retrieval path. Item mastery was a business workstream with unit-of-measure rules the floors reviewed.

Two full rehearsals reconciled inventory, open items, and the trial balance. The second is the one finance signed. Cutover avoided a Monday clinic peak.

Finance signed the ledger. Par-level hoarding dropped as the floors began to trust on-hand quantities. No clinical system was replaced or destabilized. The archive, not the new ERP, holds the decade of unused history.

“They were willing to migrate less. That is an unusual recommendation, and it is why the numbers held.”

Dr. Naomi Ell, Chief Operating Officer, Halden Health
